Old Weston Parish Council Neighbourhood Plan

Where dedicated updates to the Parish Council have been submitted alongside the Minutes they have been included here as stand alone documents, however most updates are located in the Council minutes as standard practice:

We encourage all members of the Parish to provide feedback and help support the development of this Neighbourhood plan. If you want to give feedback by email, please send them to Councillor Costura at costura1138@gmail.com who is leading the working team. The team have previously agreed the Objectives of the plan with the Parish Council to be:

To support infill development within the neighbourhood plan area at a rate, scale & density consistent with Old Weston’s existing designated planning status as a rural ‘small settlement’.
To promote energy conservation including the use of renewable energy in the neighbourhood plan area.
To preserve existing wildlife habitat and biodiversity; and to promote provision of additional areas for wildlife in and around the built environment.
To support development which sustains or enhances existing views, vistas, and retains the character of the village
To support the provision of housing that enables people to access a dwelling size and style appropriate for their changing lifestyles.
To protect the retention of existing social, historical and farming services and facilities in the village, and encourage the development of new, small-scale businesses which benefit the community.

To support these Objectives, the Parish Council has approached experts and volunteers to provide key reports which will formulate the evidence with which to generate Policy Statements within the Neighbourhood Plan document. So far, these reports constitute:

Old Weston Character Assessment – Draft reviewed by Parish Council – Nov 2021

The Parish Council will be hosting a second Engagement Event on the 13th of Nov, 2021 to discuss the findings to-date as well as solicit additional feedback, so please join us in the Village Hall from 10am to 1pm.
