A14 junctions 16 to 17 – drainage work
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the local communities for your patience and support during the recent drainage works on the A14.
During the project, we also took the opportunity to carry out routine maintenance which included litter picking, emptying drainage gullies and pothole repairs. Doing this at the same time has helped keep the area cleaner and safer for everyone.
We have had meetings with local Parish Councils and the insight they provided was truly invaluable. It will help shape how we approach future projects along this section of the road. Several actions were taken because of feedback from the meetings which included, but not limited to:
- Closing junction 15 to reduce self-diverting traffic through Bythorn
- Closure of Chainbridge Lane
- Additional signage placed on the local authority roads to better advise self-diverting traffic
- Deployment of safety camera vans within several local villages throughout the project
Additionally, we resurfaced parts of the eastbound carriageway to help reduce the need for future closures and minimise disruption to the community.
Once again, thank you for your engagement and continued support.
We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that a road marking scheme is scheduled to take place on the A14 for September 2025. Further information will be provided closer to the time to keep you fully informed.
