Important roadworks information A14 junctions 16 to 17 – drainage work
We recently wrote to inform you of overnight closures on the A14 between junctions 16 and 17 in both directions to carry out drainage work. I’m writing to inform you of some additional closures required to carry out resurfacing work and removal of the temporary safety barrier to complete the scheme.
We plan to complete this work between Monday 19 May and Monday 2 June 2025 excluding Friday 23 May andMonday 26 May due to the bank holiday. We will work weeknights only between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A14 between junctions 16 and 17, and divert traffic as detailed below:

A14 westbound between junctions 21 and 13

Traffic wishing to travel westbound on the A14 will need to take the exit slip road at junction 21. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto A141. At the following roundabout take the second exit and stay on the A141. At the Brampton Hut Interchange take the first exit onto the A1 northbound. Continue straight and merge onto the A1(M). Exit at junction 17 and bear left. At the Fletton Parkway Interchange, take the first exit onto A605. Continue on the A605 to Thrapston. Join the A14 at junction 13, where the diversion will end. |

A14 eastbound between junctions 13 and 21
|
Thursday 22 May to Monday 2 June 2025
|
Traffic wishing to travel eastbound on the A14 will need to exit at junction 13 and follow the A605 for approximately 14.5 miles. At the Fletton Parkway Interchange, take the third exit onto A1(M) and merge onto the A1. Continue to Brampton Hut Interchange, then take the third exit onto A141. At the roundabout, take the first exit and rejoin the A14 eastbound at junction 21, where the diversion will end. |
For the safety of road users, a 50mph speed limit will be in place on the A14. Narrow lanes in lane one and closures in lane two between junctions 16 and 17 westbound will remain in place until 6am on Friday 16 May 2025. The same lane restrictions will remain between junctions 16 and 17 eastbound until 6am on Thursday 29 May 2025.
